Today I started the day early so the headwinds would be lighter. The wind was light but it’s cold. Although the sun was up, as it is all the time, the misty fog from the Arctic Ocean makes the air damp and cold. While riding I’m warm with three layers and my wind shell. After a few hills I descended to the flat portion of the tundra for the final miles to Deadhorse.
While riding the flatland I glanced in my rearview mirror and spotted a wolf stalking me. I yelled at him to leave me alone and that was enough to spook him off, but not before he spooked me.
Tonight I’m camped about 50 miles from Deadhorse.
